UCAS APPLICATION SUPPORT
Our main aim at Helena Romanes Sixth Form is to prepare students for further education and beyond. We offer help and guidance to every student as they make choices that will shape the beginning of their independent, adult life.
For many of our students, university is the next step in that journey. The majority of our students go to the country’s most competitive universities. We are experienced in managing the UCAS application process and invite students and their parents to UCAS guidance evenings to give advice on every stage of the UCAS application process. We are also experienced at advising the most able students to apply to Oxford, Cambridge and the Russell Group universities.
Some students follow a different pathway and the Sixth Form Management team also offer a range of guidance seminars to help prepare for apprenticeships and employment. Guidance will be given on: completing applications, visiting places of employment, preparing for interviews and applying for sponsorship.
Autumn Term Preparation
September to December
Personal Tutors and the Sixth Form Team support students in the completion and submission of their applications. Students should work closely with their Tutors who will offer guidance on the completion of the application and Personal Statement. Students should use Unifrog to help build their Personal Statement.
Personal Tutors should advise the student when they think a student’s application is ready to send to UCAS and the student should then ‘pay and send’. Students should then make an appointment to review their application with the Head of Sixth Form.
UCAS APplication Deadlines
2021 - 2022
- 15th October 2021 - Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary deadline
- 12th November 2021 - Helena Romanes School deadline for UCAS
- 15th January 2022 - UCAS official deadline
To encourage students to complete application as early as possible, we set a school deadline of 12th November 2021. This is important as some universities send out offers as soon as applications are received in mid-September! While students will be given support right up until the UCAS deadline, it is important to encourage them to submit applications by the school deadline.
The Sixth Form Team pride themselves on the support they offer students in the application process, however, this is done on the understanding that after the 12th November 2021 we cannot promise to be so readily available.
