Year 9 and 10

YEAR 9 TAUGHT CURRICULUM

In Year 9 the taught curriculum will focus on:

  • employment: rights, laws and responsibilities
  • post 16 options
  • building a CV, managing online reputation and communicating digitally

YEAR 9 WORK RELATED LEARNING DAY

In Year 9 all students are encouraged to join a parent or family member for a day in their workplace. This gives students the opportunity to see what the world of work is like first hand and gives them a taste of work experience ready for the full placement in Year 10. 

Students use Unifrog to ensure the correct paperwork is completed and also file their experience in their virtual locker. 

 

YEAR 10 TAUGHT CAREERS CURRICULUM 

In Year 10 the taught curriculum will focus on:

  • work experience: finding a placement, their responsibilities on work experience
  • post 16 options: apprenticeships, local providers, interviews, personal statements, how to sell themselves on an application form

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE

Year 10 students will be given the opportunity to complete a work experience placement in the summer term of Year 10. 

Students are given support in the lead up to work experience and are helped to find placements. 

Students use Unifrog for the paperwork which includes all the relevant checks, it also enables students to add the work experience to their virtual locker.  

 

LABOUR MARKET INFORMATION (LMI)

Labour Marker Information gives us information about what is happening in the labour market. It can show us which industries and careers are in decline or on the increase. It can also provide information such as how many jobs are available in the local area and what opportunities may be out there for you.
