Jack Petchey Achievement Award Winners
Mr Gee was delighted to be able to present this year’s HRS Jack Petchey Foundation Award winners with medals this week in recognition of their achievements. The Jack Petchey Foundation normally present these medals at their annual awards ceremony at Foakes Hall in Great Dunmow but due to the pandemic it was not possible this year.
Congratulations to Year 13 student Damon; Year 11 students Elliott and Maisie; Year 10 student Arianne and Year 9 student Alexandra for being excellent role models in the school community.
Pictured below are some of our award winners receiving their medals this week from Mr Gee in the presence of their Heads of Year.
News from the Learning Zone
This half term has been a whirlwind of testing for our Year 7 and 8 students with CATs and Star assessments.
We continue to encourage students to find a book that they really enjoy reading and will be adding new books to the shelves to support them to do this.
We have 203 library books which are overdue. Please use this holiday to have a look around and return any stray books.
On Thursday 4th November we are starting the Warhammer Club after school in the Learning Zone from 3.15pm – 4.00pm with Miss Tjandra.
Mrs S Bird – Learning Zone Manager
Biology Week 2021
The deadline for students in all year groups to participate in the biology challenges below has been extended so that students can work on them over half-term. Students need to bring models into their science lessons after the break.
Mrs H Goodwin – Science Faculty
The sixth form charities committee have been very active over the last two weeks.
Congratulations to Year 12 students who raised £111.00 for the Barnardo’s charity through a series of cake sales with a Halloween theme.
Congratulations also to Year 13 students who raised over £95 for Breast Cancer, organising a wear something pink day.
They have also raised an additional £89 self-funding for their Summer Ball, an event which, traditionally, marks the end of A level studies.
Mrs D Wright – Head of Sixth Form
Please be aware that students may not cook if they do not have a suitable apron to wear. Aprons need to be cotton and the correct size for the student.
Nail polish may not be worn in food practical lessons. If a student arrives with nail polish, they will not be allowed to cook. The same applies to acrylic nails.
We have a large amount of plastic containers (both marked and unmarked). Please can students be reminded to collect them.
Can all students please put their name onto their food containers. It is very difficult to identify which container belongs to which students when at the end of the day, there are 66 students collecting food.
If anyone has a good quality pasta machine at home that they no longer need/use; please feel free to recycle it to us.
Thank you for your support.
