Weekly News Bulletin: 16 July 2021

End of term arrangements
As mentioned in last week’s bulletin, term will end at 12.45pm on Thursday 22nd July 2021. Any students who travel on dedicated school transport will be able to catch their bus from school at this time. Our canteens will be open during break times, as normal.

Jack Petchey Award Winners
Congratulations to the following students who are this year’s Jack Petchey Achievement Award winners:

• January – Damon Elliot
• February – Alexandra Gordon
• March – Alfie Wilson
• April – Maisie Francis
• May – Elliott Lees
• June – Arianne Van Den Ende

We know there are many young people who deserve recognition. These awards are for those young people who have gone above and beyond what might be expected of them. Young people achieve in lots of ways; this can include overcoming personal challenges and adversity, achieving sporting and musical success as well as by volunteering and making a difference within their community.

Achievement Award Winners each receive £250 to be spent on a school/community project of their choice and will be invited to an Awards’ Ceremony in the autumn where they each will receive a framed photograph; a pin badge and a boxed medallion in recognition of their achievements.

News from the Learning Zone
We are delighted to have received funds from Great Dunmow Town Council to purchase books for a new Literacy Initiative.

Students in Years 7 and 8 will be reading one title per term during their Tutor Time in September with a total of three books read over the year.

All the books have a Bookplate to acknowledge the donation by the Town Council.

We look forward to sharing the impact of this initiative next year.
