Student Recognition
We received an email on Tuesday from a very grateful local resident who wanted to thank some of our students for finding her dog who had escaped and was seen crossing a busy road at Church End.  The quick thinking students, caught the dog and contacted the owner to inform her that he was safe with them and waited until she collected him.

The owner wanted to express what a credit the students are to both themselves and the school. She added that their sensible actions in catching her dog probably saved his life.

We have not been able to identify the girls but would like to thank them personally on behalf of the owner.  If your son/daughter was involved in this incident, please email Mrs Weston at cweston@hrs.education.
Thank you.

The Christmas TV Guide
Do you love to watch films? Behind many good films there’s often a great book!

The Christmas TV guide compiled by Helen Smith at the Eckington School covers films from the beginning of December to the 1st January including the channel, time and rating.  Also included are the subscription channels and a word search you can print off and complete.

It is a wonderful resource and we are very grateful that Helen has shared it with us. There may be an opportunity for you to watch a film and maybe follow up by reading the book over the Christmas period.

Year 7 & 8 Indoor Athletics
At the start of this half term Year 7 and 8 students participated in indoor athletic events within their core Physical Education lessons. The top students in each year group were selected to compete in the North West athletic games.

Four schools entered, Helena Romanes; Saffron Walden; Joyce Frankland and Forest Hall.  In our first year of entry the Year 7 girls and Year 8 boys came second overall in their respective competitions.  When the boys and girls scores were added together we came 3rd overall in both year groups, not losing out by many points. This bodes well for the future and we will certainly continue to compete next year.  Thank you to all the year 7 and 8 students who took part.

Overall points totals:

Year 7   Girls 1078            Boys 1013
Year 8   Girls 1056             Boys 1236
