News from the Learning Zone

Remembrance
As we return from half term the Learning Zone has a new display for Remembrance ahead of November 11th.  Students can borrow some of our many books to reflect on the many millions who gave their lives during times of conflict.

Accelerated Reader
The HRS Literacy programme Accelerated Reader for Years 7 and 8 has started off in a very positive way.  So far this academic year students have taken 209 quizzes resulting in 2,595,127 words being read.  This is an amazing start to the year, more information will be sent home shortly to enable parents to support students with their literacy skills.

Bookbuzz
The Bookbuzz order for Year 7 students was submitted before half term.  We are hoping that the current restrictions will not delay delivery and that students will soon be receiving the book that they chose.

Year 10 Maths Termly Assessments
All Year 10 students will be sitting their termly assessment next week in their maths lessons on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November.  They will be sitting a non-calculator paper on Thursday 12th November and a calculator paper on Friday 13th November.  Students have been sent revision materials on Show My Homework and are also encouraged to use hegartymaths.com to revise any areas they feel necessary.

Pupils are politely reminded to ensure that they have all equipment necessary for these assessments: pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, protractor, set of compasses and for Friday, students will need a calculator.
Thank you in advance.

Year 11 Mocks Round 2: 18th January to 5th February 2021
The next set of mocks commencing on Monday 18th January will be for all subjects (except DT/Food Preparation).  I will be in contact soon with further information.

This is only 7 school weeks away and so students should now get back to nightly revision using a revision timetable to ensure all subjects are covered.
