Author Visit
We are delighted to be welcoming Author Lisa Williamson to HRS on Friday 31 January.  Lisa has written three books, the latest being Paper Avalanche, which is the story of a child whose parent is a hoarder, and tells how this affects her life.

Lisa will be signing copies of all three of her books in the Learning Zone at lunch time on the 31 January.  To order a signed copy for £6 (per book) please pay via ParentPay (please see the email sent separately about this for further details).

Year 8 Wells Parents’ Evening – Wednesday 29 January 2020
We would like to remind you that the Year 8 Wells Parents’ Evening will take place on Wednesday 29 January from 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.  This will be an opportunity to speak to subject teachers about your child’s academic progress.  I would really appreciate it, if you could make every effort to attend the evening at this important stage of your child’s education.

If you haven’t yet made your appointments, the online booking system is still open and will remain open until 3.00 p.m. on Tuesday 28 January 2020.

Please note that some teaching staff teach multiple classes and/or subjects, and therefore appointments are limited.   If you are unable to book an appointment, please contact the teacher via email in order to request details of your child’s progress.

In order to select appointments with your child’s teachers, please click on this link: http://parents-booking.co.uk/thehelenaromanes and enter your name and your child’s name and date of birth.

Please DO NOT use the “Mr and Mrs” option to log in, instead use one title or another.

To make your bookings, please select which subject teachers you would like to see and then choose an available slot from the list.

Please note that consecutive booking times are not permitted.   This is to allow you enough time to reach your next appointment.

The system allows you to print your list of appointments or alternatively have them emailed to you. There is also the facility to cancel appointments in the event that you are unable to attend.   This will allow other parents to choose those time slots.

We look forward to meeting you next Wednesday.

Young Carers Week: 27 January – 31 January
We now have a thriving Young Carers club at HRS supported by some very dedicated members of staff along with Essex Youth Service Young Carers workers.  They will be hosting assemblies for each year group next week, to raise awareness of Young Carers within the school.   Members of the club have been busy making ribbons to sell during the week at break and lunchtime to raise money for the Young Carers Club – please support this cause.

The school has recently been awarded the Young Carers Bronze award for schools and we are keen to continue to identify and support young Carers who attend HRS.   There is further information available on our website, under the Parents tab, where there is also a form to apply for support for your child. You can also request support by emailing worrybox@hrs.education.
