Weekly News Bulletin: 11 November 2019

Sixth Form Open Evening: Tuesday 12th November 2019, 6.00pm to 8.00pm
The Sixth Form Open Evening will run between 6pm and 8pm for all Year 11 parents and students. There will be two information presentations about choices and life in the sixth form, one at 6pm and the second at 7pm for your convenience.

The evening is both an essential and wonderful opportunity for students to speak to subject teachers and follow up from the successful speed dating events which ran on 4th and 9th October respectively.

Life in the sixth form is very different to Year 11 so everyone should come and find out as much information as they can so they can make an informed choice regarding destinations post 16.

I look forward to meeting you on the evening.

Jack Petchey Award Winner – September 2019
Congratulations to Edward Lodge in Year 10 who was nominated for a Jack Petchey Award by Mrs Frasi on behalf of the Extended Learning department. Edward was nominated for the award because “he is a conscientious, hard-working, enthusiastic and motivated student with an extremely positive attitude to learning. He is also polite, thoughtful and a pleasure to work with”.
Edward’s £250 award money will be used in the Extended Learning department.

A Plea from Drama
Do you have any old hardback books or silver tankards at home that could be loaned to the Drama department for the school’s production of Les Misérables? If so they would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Christmas Lunches
Christmas lunches for students will be served in the upper dining hall on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December 2019. If your son/daughter would like to have a Christmas lunch, please pay via ParentPay before Friday 29th November 2019 and ensure that your child has checked with their friends which date to book before paying as places are non-transferable.

The cost to each student is £3.90 and 100 places will be available each day.

If your son/daughter is in receipt of free school meals, please email me at blouth@hrs.education to let me know if they require a Christmas dinner on either or both days. You do not need to pay for the dinner on ParentPay. If you do not confirm that they require a Christmas lunch, it will be assumed that they will purchase food from the lower dining hall or snack shack on these days.
