Year 7 settling in evening – Thursday 3rd October 2019
An email has been sent to Year 7 parents/carers with an invitation to attend our settling in evening on Thursday 3rd October 2019 between 6.00 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. The aim of the event is to maintain the link between home and school and there will be an opportunity to meet briefly with your child’s form tutor for an informal chat if you wish.
The evening will begin with a talk in the main hall and you will be provided with general information including reporting and data as well as an outline of what has been achieved so far this term.
Following the initial talk, you will be escorted to a classroom with other parents and carers to meet with your child’s form tutor. Members of the Senior Leadership Team will be present on the night along with Mrs Helen Johnston, SENCO and Mr Chris Allom, KS3 Raising Standards Leader.
If you have not already done so, I would be grateful if you could click on the link in the email sent on 19th September to complete a form confirming your attendance and the number of people attending. If you are unable to open the link, please email Annette Calcutt, Admin Services (firstname.lastname@example.org) to confirm this information.
Please note that this event is for parents and carers only and students are not required to attend.
We look forward to meeting you again on Thursday 3rd October.

Sixth Form – Speed-dating event: 4th – 9th October 2019
Continuing at HRS into the sixth form should be the natural transition to study A level or BTEC courses in preparation for university, higher level apprenticeships or employment for all Year 11 students.
With this in mind, I am running a speed-dating event on Friday 4th October, period 5 for one half of the year group and Wednesday 9th October, period 5 for the second half of the year group.
Year 11 students are invited to rotate around all of the subjects which may be of interest to them visiting each stand for five minutes; here they will be greeted by our enthusiastic Year 13 students who will answer all of their questions, big or small, about sixth form life in general and the subject specifically.
This event will help our students engage more effectively with our sixth form open evening on Tuesday 12th November 2019 between 6-8 p.m. as they will have a foundation of knowledge upon which to build when discussing options with their teachers.

News from the Learning Zone
The Scholastic book fair is open in the Learning Zone at break and lunchtimes for students to choose books they might like to buy.
Students will bring a slip marked with their chosen/desired purchase on and if you are happy payment for the book/s can be made by ParentPay – Scholastic Book Fair.
Payments will need to be made by 4.00 p.m. on Tuesday 2nd October as the fair leaves HRS on Wednesday morning.
Bookbuzz books for our Year 7 students have now been ordered and will hopefully arrive by half term – if you have not paid the £3 we would be grateful if you could now do so.
