News from PE
We have had a great summer term of athletics and rounders’ to culminate the end of the year.
We would like to pass on our congratulations to all of the students involved throughout this year in sport. Please see below the results from the recent district rounders’ and athletics.
Congratulations to the year 10 Girls Rounders’ team who for the second time won the NWE District Rounders’ Tournament beating Notley in the final.
District athletics results
Jaimee Smith retained her High jump and hurdles titles at both the NWE and BS&D Athletics Competitions and Ellie Cakebread convincingly won the 1500m title.
Sports Day results
A warm but not too sunny day made it ideal conditions for the final sporting school event of the year. There were a number of records broken and a role reversal of some of the overall results from last year. Year 10, in their final Sports Day, were particularly competitive and enthusiastic. Congratulations to Sadie Frater-White (Yr9), Luis Newton (Yr7), Jackson White (Yr8) and Amelia Smith (Yr10) who all broke the 300m records. Amelia now holds two of those records (Yr8 & 10). Also congratulations to Ben Raeburn (Yr7) and Katelin Ambrose (Yr7) who broke the cricket and rounders’ ball throwing records. The final results from the day were as follows:
• Year 7 winners were 7TSM
• Year 8 winners were 8BK moving up from 3rd place last year to secure this year’s title.
• Year 9 winners were the defending champions 9JW
• Year 10 – Last year there were only two points in it with 10SPF taking the title. They were unable to defend this title and with a huge victory (25+ points) the CHAMPIONS were 10FI.
We wish all of our Year 10 and 11 students going to South Africa on Sunday an amazing tour. To everyone else have a fabulous summer and we look forward to seeing everyone again in the new term.
