Year 11 Scientists
Now that our Year 11 students are settled into their final weeks of examination preparation it would be useful if students could bring their revision guides to all science lessons.
GCSE revision guides are still available to purchase on ParentPay if needed.

Commemorative Bench for Elliot
To mark the first anniversary of Elliot Peters’ death, Elliot’s mother, Mrs Storey, unveiled a bench commemorating Elliot in front of his closest and oldest friends. The bench is now located in the memorial garden within the school grounds and can be used for years to come by students who wish to sit in peace.

Photographs taken by Max Beaumont, Year 12

Elliot’s friends chose the wording on the plaque which reads: ‘Elliot James Peters Unforgettable Special, Loved, “Moley”, Trusted’.

Since Elliot’s death on 8th March 2018 more than £15,000 has been raised for Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Elliot was treated, following donations from students and staff, a fun day organised by Mrs Storey and donations from members of the community. Part of the total amount raised was used to purchase the commemorative bench.

News from Maths
Year 11: As of Friday 15th March, it is 67 days until the first GCSE Exam. Selected students are attending our morning registration booster sessions, some are attending our after school maths cafe sessions that are open to anyone. Other students have been given online mathswatch assessment/support. Each day I am sending out key topic revision material via ShowMyHomework that they can use to revise.

Each student will soon also have a levelled revision/assessment guide provided by my team to help them. There are additional crossover assessment resources that are also available to use in any free time during registration to keep them busy so there is always something for them to do.

Year 10: Currently revising/doing their mock GCSE Statistics exam (to support their GCSE Maths next year). I sent out key words/revision materials via ShowMyHomework recently to help them revise and focus on key words/definitions/
calculations.

Year 9: Currently completing their GCSE assessment (Calculator paper). They will be given a feedback sheet for the year upon completion which will guide them to areas that they need to work on to improve.

A reminder that all students have access to VLE.mathswatch.co.uk as a homework/revision/tutorial tool to help them when they struggle with a topic and need additional support or wish to do some independent study to move forward.

Boys’ Trousers
If anybody has any 34-inch waist or larger school trousers that are no longer needed, please could you donate them to our collection of spare uniform so we can lend them to students if required?
Thank you.
Student Reception

A Reminder
Please may we remind parents/carers not to take students out of school during the school day unless it is absolutely necessary. If you do need to take your child out for a medical appointment etc. please ensure your son/daughter has a note to show to the class teacher so they can be released from their lesson. This note will also need to be shown to Student Reception before they sign out. Parents/carers only need to telephone school to inform us if the appointment has been made on the same day.
