World Book Day – Thursday 7th March
Next Thursday is World Book Day and to mark this HRS will be reading a five-part story throughout the day. This has been written by one of our students following our Literacy Story Writing competition last half term.

Our annual ‘Guess the Book Title’ competition with the Learning Zone door decorated with a clue will be open to students on Thursday too.

Staff will be sharing their love of books with a poster on their door detailing their favourite books when they were at school and now.

Spanish Workbooks
Several students have not yet collected their workbooks. If you have purchased a workbook for your child, can you please remind him/her to come to D109 during lunch or after school to collect it.

Salamanca Trip
We will shortly have to make final payments to the airline, accommodation and language lesson providers. If your child is participating in this trip, can you please make sure that all payments are up-to-date and any outstanding paperwork is submitted as soon as possible. Paperwork can be handed in to Mrs Newell in D109 or to the Administration team in D107A.

Spanish GCSE Orals
A reminder that these REAL examinations will take place on 24th-26th April (students taught by Mrs Aldous) and 7th-9th May (students taught by Mrs Newell). Your child will be given an exact date and time closer to the date. It is imperative that your child attends their assigned examination as these cannot be rescheduled (except in cases of severe illness when an exam board form has to be completed and signed-off by the attending consultant or hospital, not GP).

Orals in Other Languages
The GCSE oral in Portuguese (OCR exam board) will take place on Friday 26th April and the oral in Polish (Edexcel exam board) will take place on Thursday 9th April. Please ensure that your child familiarises him/herself with the requirements of the exam by going to the relevant exam board website to read the specification and review previous exam materials.
Mrs V Newell – Head of Spanish

E safety warning – Momo Challenge
We have been made aware of something called the “Momo Challenge” which is apparently, targeting children and adolescents through social media and online games. This challenge can involve users receiving threats and instructions to perform a series of dangerous tasks.

A group of year 7 students were overheard talking about it by staff. Please see the news article below.
