Weekly News Bulletin: 14 May 2018

Year 11
Official study leave begins on Monday 21st May.  Students should attend school as normal next week during the exams; provision will be put in place for revision prior to sitting the exams.

For students wishing to have a shirt signed they must bring in a spare shirt to be signed on Friday 18th May.  They must not have the shirt they are wearing signed.

During the study leave and exam period students are reminded that they must arrive in good time with all the equipment they will need for the start of each exam and once the exam finishes they are expected to leave the school site unless attending an organised revision session or using the Learning Zone for revision.  In both cases students MUST sign in at Student Reception.

May I take this opportunity to wish all of Year 11 Good Luck in their exams!

Jack Petchey Award Winners
March Winner
Mrs Atkinson, from the Student Welfare team, nominated Bryony Peters in Year 11 for a Jack Petchey Award.  Despite the loss of her brother, Bryony has comforted students in Elliot’s year.  She has continued to show dedication to her studies and has represented the school with dignity both in the press and in public helping to raise money for GOSH and raising the profile of the school locally as a very caring place.  Bryony’s £250 award money has been used to purchase a CD player and bubble water wall cascade with LED lights for the Pupil Learning Centre.  The wall is in three sections with two bubble jets in each to enhance the sensory experience.

April Winner
Mrs Duke, Joint Head of Art, nominated Ellie Field in Year 10 for a Jack Petchey Award.  Ellie received her award for always helping out in the art department at break and lunch time.  Ellie helps both the teachers with cleaning the classroom and making sure it is ready for teaching, as well as helping students with their art work.  Ellie’s £250 award money will be used to purchase lots of printing inks for the Art department.

 Message from Student Reception
If you are advising school by email that your child needs to leave school early for an appointment please ensure that you copy Student Reception into the email.  Emails should be sent to the Attendance Officer at ajenkins@hrs.educaiton and Student Reception at studentreception@hrs.education.

Now the weather is getting warmer, please ensure your child brings in a water bottle which they can refill at the dedicated areas around school during break and lunch.
