Harry Potter Day
After the snow last term disrupted the original date; the long awaited Harry Potter event for 40 students in Year 8 took place on Wednesday.
Students enjoyed a morning of fun in the Learning Zone where they got to meet and learn about a barn owl and a great grey owl. The owls were accompanied by owners Liam and Matt from UK Owl and Raptor Displays who talked to the students about their habitat, lifestyle, diet and adaptions among other things. The talk concluded with both owls giving a flight demonstration around the Learning Zone. Students also got the opportunity to listen to extracts from the Harry Potter books, make Harry Potter wands and design and ice Harry Potter biscuits.
The event was organised by Mrs Bird, Learning Zone Manager.
GCSE Oral exams in MFL
Next week (Mon-Wed) the Year 11 students will be taking their GCSE oral exams.
• If you are the parent/carer of a Year 11 MFL student, please ensure that they have their presentations, revised question words, and not neglected the ‘other’ conversation topics. They have a specific time slot and should not arrive late.
• If you are the parent/carer of a student in Years 7-10, please remind your son/daughter that the MFL lessons will be moved from the top floor of D block. Students have been informed of the room changes and should not, under any circumstances, come upstairs to the second floor. Tutors have been informed of the room changes too.

Congratulations to Year 8 student Jasmine who has just won another ice skating competition at the Bracknell Opens with a huge personal best of 53.86, which is nearly 5 points more than her highest score! The competition was used to gain experience and critique from the Judges in preparation for the British Championships at the end of the year.

Year 10 English
All Year 10’s will be studying the “Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” after the Year 10 exams as one of their GCSE English Literature texts.
The English Department has produced an A4 version of this text and are offering students the opportunity to buy a copy of their own to keep at a cost of £2.50. They will then be able to annotate and highlight the text during lessons and revision.
Students who do not buy a copy will still be provided with a text. They will not however be able to write in it and will have to return it at the end of the course.
If you wish to buy a copy, please pay the £2.50 cost via ParentPay as soon as possible. Copies will be given out to students shortly after payment has been received.
Any questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
