Rotary Youth Speaks Competition
On Tuesday the 28th November, HRS hosted the annual Youth Speaks Competition sponsored and organised by our local Dunmow Rotary Club. In the intermediate round, teams from Years 7, 8 and 9 competed against each other with topics including: ‘Willpower’, ‘Creative Arts in Education’ and ‘The Effects of Plastic in the Oceans’; whilst in the senior round, HRS competed against Felsted Prep. Our link Rotarian exclaimed of the evening, ‘all your teams were very polished- they spoke clearly and eloquently and passionately about subjects they had researched well.’
We were thrilled when the winners were announced: Benjamin James (Chairperson), Sophie-Ella Rose (Speaker), Roshaan Premadasa (Vote of Thanks) from Year 8 won the intermediate competition with their passionate speech promoting Creative Arts in Education. Our Year 10 team who were articulately represented by Emma Holland (Chairperson), Sarah Mouncher (Speaker) and Katie Salmon (Vote of Thanks) stole the show beating Felsted with their topic, ‘Women’s Rights’.
A huge ‘thank you’ to Rotary Great Dunmow for a most enjoyable evening.
