Year 11 Parents’ Evening
We would like to remind you that the Year 11 Parents’ Evening will take place on Thursday 14th December 2017 from 5.00 p.m. until 8.00 p.m.
This will be an opportunity to discuss your son’s/daughter’s academic progress at this important stage in their education prior to their GCSE’s next year.
Students are responsible for making appointments with their subject teachers and these should be recorded on their blue appointment sheet. I would be grateful if you could check with your child that appointments are being made. Students are expected to attend the evening with their parents/carers.
Please note that parking is not permitted in the Leisure Centre car park. There will be spaces available in the school car park that can be accessed by turning right at the roundabout at the front of the building.
If you have not already done so, please complete and submit the reply slip that was recently emailed or reply to firstname.lastname@example.org to confirm your attendance by Friday 7th December 2017.
We look forward to meeting you on this occasion.
Ms T Foulger – Director of Learning: Year 11
Occasionally we are asked to set up items on ParentPay for whole year groups or the whole school. You should only pay for an item on ParentPay if you have received an email asking you to do so. We have created a payment item “Learning Zone – Damaged/Replacement books” for all students on ParentPay to enable parents to pay for missing or damaged books. If this applies to your child, you will receive communication of the book and amount owed.
Arm Wrestling Competition
The next round of the Arm Wrestling competition facilitated by 12SS will take place at lunchtime on Wednesday 6th December 2017 in D04. There will be a charge of 50p per student to watch their teachers battle it out. All welcome. All proceeds will go to Dementia UK.
Thank you for your support

All KS3, KS4 Art option, KS5 Art/Photography
Following the success of student participation in the show last January, HRS students will once again be participating in the show in January 2018.
Students will be given information about the competition during lessons and information will also be shown on SMHW. To enter the competition is optional, however, we strongly encourage students to participate. It is a very exciting opportunity to have artwork displayed in a gallery, alongside artists and University students.
The HRS Art department will select the work that will be sent off to the show. Selected students will be notified via their form tutor before the Christmas holidays. Parents/carers will also be notified. There is a fee of £3 per entry which should be paid via ParentPay.
Christmas dinner will be served in the Upper Dining Hall on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th December. If your son/daughter would like a Christmas dinner please arrange for the payment of £3.75 via ParentPay.
Only 100 are spaces available each day. Your child will need to collect a ticket for their meal from Mrs Louth in the Main Office on Monday 11th or Tuesday 12th December. They will need to present their ticket at the till when collecting their lunch. Please make your child aware that days cannot be swapped once purchased.
If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals and would like a Christmas dinner on either or both days, please let me know their name and registration group so they can collect a ticket from me in the Main office on Monday 11th or Tuesday 12th December. Uttlesford Careers Fair 2018
Can you spare some time on Wednesday 10th October next year? That’s the date of our next major Uttlesford Schools Careers Fair and we are looking to make it bigger and better than ever.
Representatives from more than 80 businesses and colleges supported our last Fair in 2016 and spent the evening chatting to around 2000 students and parents who visited the event.
Could you come and talk to young people and their parents about the job that you do, or get your business involved in the event? You don’t have to be a multi-national company to be involved – young people love to talk to people who are doing a wide range of jobs and you could make the difference to a young person’s future by talking to them about the job you do.
If you think you could help, please drop an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org and I will pass your details on to the organiser.
