October Half-term Feedback
Thank you to everyone who has already responded to my email requesting feedback about the two-week October half-term. If you haven’t yet responded I would welcome your views, in particular the impact it has on your child’s learning. Please email your comments to my PA Ceri Weston at cweston@hrs.education.

A decision regarding next year’s term dates will be made at the Full Governing Body meeting on Tuesday 12th December 2017. I will then let you know the dates for the academic year 2018-19 before we break up for Christmas.

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
Child Sexual Exploitation or CSE is a growing problem in society today and can affect both girls and boys. It is essential that we all work together to protect our young people. CSE has many different models and can affect children of primary and secondary school age, both online and in person. Please take some time to follow the link below and complete a short online learning course (approximately 20 minutes) to ensure you understand what CSE is, how to spot warning signs in your children, and how to report it.

The link can also be found on our website, on the parents tab, under Safeguarding, where you will find other useful information on this and other safeguarding topics. This tab is added to regularly.

If you have any concerns about the welfare of your child or any other child you can contact our safeguarding staff via the direct means below, or via our general safeguarding email worrybox@hrs.education, which comes through directly to both of us.

Essex Safeguarding Children Board
In light of the allegations of historical child sexual abuse at various football clubs across the country the Essex Safeguarding Children Board has published Guidance for Parents on choosing out of school activities with Sports Active Essex and Essex County Council LADOs. This can be found on the new Safeguarding in Sport pages for Parents/Carers.

In light of the growing concern about Gangs, including the issue around ‘county lines’, the Essex Safeguarding Children Board updated Parents/Carers pages, to provide information on signs to look out for and how to support young people.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding these issues please contact your Head of Year or myself.
