Learning Zone
The School Shop in the Learning Zone has stationary, calculators and Blue School Ties (£7.95) for students to purchase.

This week the Learning Zone is focussing on Remembrance, there is a display of books available for students to borrow as we reflect on past conflicts.

Literacy News
Students have been challenged to read as many books as they can before we break up for Christmas; they have a bookmark to chart their progress. Please support them by checking their progress and discussing the books they are reading. As always the Learning Zone has lots of books to choose from to support students for this challenge.

Year 10 RPL Exam
All Year 10 students will be sitting their RPL (RE) GCSE mock exam next week, on Thursday 16th November. The exam will be run as a ‘walking talking’ mock to explain the exam skills of each question before the students answer the questions. Although exam skills are explained, the answers are not, so all students should be busy revising at home! We will be using these results to determine which students should be put in for the Full Course GCSE and which should do the short course (equivalent to half a GCSE). We wish all of Year 10 good luck!

V&A Art Trip on Tuesday 28th November
Please may we remind parents/carers that all students attending the V&A trip on 28th November must wear their school uniform. Students also need to bring a packed lunch, drinks for the day, a small sketchbook or notepad and pens/pencils. They may also bring some money with them to buy souvenirs if they wish.

If your son/daughter is attending, please ensure they have handed in their form to the Art department and paid on ParentPay.
Thank you.

Uniform Expectations for PE and PE Extra-Curricular Clubs
With the cold weather upon us, the PE Department would like to confirm uniform expectations for PE and extra-curricular clubs.

During PE lessons students are welcome to wear under armour shirts. However, they must be black or white and worn underneath their maroon jumper. If students are wearing their white polo top (indoor lesson), the under armour must also be white.

For extra-curricular clubs, students can also wear sports leggings. These will also need to be black or white. If you have any questions regarding clothing over the cold weather for PE, please do not hesitate to contact the PE Department.

Please note that jackets and trousers are available from Jacks of Dunmow and can be worn in PE lessons and extra-curricular clubs.

Please be aware the PE Department are now active on Twitter. Please follow us @HrsPe for information about fixtures, clubs and much more.
Thank you.

Message from Canteen and Finance Department
Please may we remind you that if for any reason there is not enough money on your child’s lunch account, please can you let them know that the only place that the kitchens can authorise food in advance of payment is in the Upper Dining Hall. Unfortunately the Snack Shack and Lower Dining Hall cannot authorise this on their systems so please ensure your child is aware of this.

We do not want any child to go without food so if they are told that they don’t have any money on their account, they should go to the Upper Dining Hall and speak to the Catering Manager who will ensure they are provided with a meal and the payment is collected afterwards.

If you can please make sure you update your child’s account with enough money one hour prior to them needing it, as sometimes it takes this long for the till systems to be updated.
Thank you for your cooperation.
