Year 7’s
The Year 7’s have had a positive start to their future at HRS. I am so pleased to see so many happy faces, ready to take on the challenge. Please remind your son/daughter that they should arrive at school each day with the correct equipment for their lessons, this includes dictionaries if required.
Well done Year 7’s on an excellent start!

Music Lessons
To improve the administration of music lessons, payment for lessons will now be directly to the peripatetic music tutor at the start of each term and not via ParentPay. The music tutors will then be able to liaise with you directly about timetables etc. Music lesson prices remain the same with 10 weeks costing £100 for 20 minute lessons and £150 for 30 minute lessons.

We currently have the following peripatetic music tutors, so please email them directly if you are interested in lessons for your child:

• Jon Pollard – Guitar/Electric Guitar – jonpol40@icloud.com
• Dan Oakley – Piano, Brass, Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute, Singing – danoakley@hotmail.co.uk
• Will Hill – Drums – willhilldrummer@gmail.com

For families currently in receipt of free school meals, the school has some provision to be able to help towards the cost of lessons. However, this would need to be assessed on a case by case basis by the finance and music departments and reviewed termly. Please email finance@hrs.education if this is relevant to you.

Message from Canteen and Finance Department
If for any reason there is not enough money on your child’s lunch account, please can you let them know that the only place that the kitchens can authorise food in advance of payment is in the Upper Dining Hall. Unfortunately the Snack Shack and Lower Dining Hall cannot authorise this on their systems so please ensure your child is aware of this.

We do not want any child to go without food so if they are told that they don’t have any money on their account, they should go to the Upper Dining Hall and speak to the Catering Manager who will ensure they are provided with a meal and the payment is collected afterwards.

If you can please make sure you update your child’s account with enough money one hour prior to them needing it, as sometimes it takes this long for the till systems to be updated.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations to Year 8 student, Jasmine Cressey, who has been selected for the GB Talent Squad for Ice Skating. This prestigious accolade means that she is one of only nine children in the entire country to have qualified to become a member of this elite team.

In recognition of her abilities, she has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Halloween Cup in Budapest on the 21st October at an Advanced Level where she will compete with European skaters aged up to 18.

This is the result of many years of dedication and hard work, something that she has managed to achieve whilst also doing brilliantly on her academics. Well done Jasmine!
Mr N Wilcox – Director of Learning – Year 8

Youth Bus
A Youth Bus provided by Essex County Council will be visiting the school every Thursday lunch time this term for students to go to if they wish to discuss any issues they have. The Social Workers on board the bus will also provide advice and suggestions on different topics.
