Weekly News Bulletin: 27 June 2016

A selected number of Year 7 and Year 8 students were placed on the Lexia Reading Scheme.  An email was sent with an attached letter giving instructions for down loading the program to enable students to use it at home.  It will ask for an email address which is on the letter – aturner@hrseducation.co.uk .

If you have any problems or are unable to use the program at home, please let me know and alternative access arrangements can be made at school.

Thank you.

Information from Careers for Year 11 Leavers
Cambridge Regional College is holding a series of Faculty Open Days for Year 11 students, week commencing 27th June and week commencing 4th July.  Students will have the opportunity to spend a half or full day (depending on the subject area) in the subject area of their choice, and take part in hands-on workshops and faculty tours.  It is particularly aimed at students who are thinking of going to CRC but would like to find out more about the subject and the college before they apply.

A full list of subjects and dates is available on their website http://www.camre.ac.uk/event/faculty-open-days/

Students will need to pre-register online via the link above.

Year 11’s still looking for an apprenticeship?
Priors Hall Farm in Lindsell has a vacancy for a full time trainee butcher to join their team.  They are offering a competitive salary, with full on-site training.  Students must have some form of transport available as this is a rural location.

Please ask your son/daughter to email me if they would like the contact details to make an application.

Quiz Night
An evening of fun resulted in over £900 being raised for the Save the Maddi campaign with a Quiz Night organised by the Extended Learning team last Friday.  Special thanks go to Chris Allom for his quiz master skills, to everyone who donated prizes for the raffles and games and to the Extended Learning ladies who worked really hard to create such a fun night.

Young Peoples Mental Health
With this being a subject of concern for a growing number of young people in today’s society, we would like to share with you a really useful resource for parents/families.

MindEd is a free educational resource on children and young people’s mental health and provides lots of guidance for adults to support young people.
