Year 11 Parents’ Information Evening
As the Year 11 students have just embarked on one of the most important years in their education, we would like to invite parents and carers to an important information evening on Wednesday 23rd September 2015 at 6.30 p.m. in the school hall. A number of key issues will be discussed including:

·         Year 11 expectations
·         Information on Exam boards and coursework
·         Exam Dates
·         Easter Revision
·         Study skills
·         Mock reports
·         In-school interventions
·         Important dates during the year

It is vital that all parents and carers attend this evening.  An email invitation has been sent home and we would be grateful if you could confirm your attendance by completing the reply slip and returning it to Mrs Annette Calcutt, via Student Reception by Monday 21st September 2015.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you to the meeting next Wednesday.

KS3 Science Club
The Science department is re-launching Science Club this year as an after school club running from 3.15pm to 4.15pm, every Tuesday (starting 15th September 2015).  It will be open to both Year 7’s and Year 8’s.

We have moved it to after school so we can focus on projects and work towards CREST awards which are supported by the British Science Association.  These projects will help develop skills in research, investigation, design and scientific communication.  The first project will focus around detective work.  If your child is interested, please encourage them to attend on Tuesdays in A015.

Information from Careers – Workshop Conferences
A company called Workshop Conferences Ltd organise workshop conferences for Year 12 & 13 students at the University of Nottingham on various dates throughout the year.  These conferences are residential and come at a cost; however they could be useful to support University applications.

We have just been informed of their dates for their December Conferences, these individual workshop conferences cover Dentistry, Law with Criminal Law, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Chemistry, Veterinary Science (called Vet-Medlink) and Medicine (called Medlink, and includes a 1 day free exhibition).

If your son/daughter is interested, please look on the website to reserve a place on www.workshop-uk.net or call 01509 233133.

For students in Year 11 & 12, conferences on ‘Becoming a Doctor’ or ‘Becoming a Lawyer’ are offered by Epoc Careers Conferences.  Our nearest venue is London and they have weekend dates in 2016. There is a cost involved.
