Welcome to the Learning Zone
We are open from 8.15am – 4.30pm Monday – Thursday and 4.00pm Fridays. Students are welcome to come in and read, do their homework or study before school, break, lunchtimes and after school.
Our School’s library system enables students to search for resources, safe websites, reserve books, write reviews and view accounts. Students can access this through the direct link under, Students.
The School’s Reading Schemes
We have established two reading schemes:
Accelerated Reader is a daily progress-monitoring assessment tool and the STAR Reading program allows us to instantly assess pupils reading levels, reading ages and National Standardised Scoring levels in reading as well as measuring growth. AR helps guide pupils of all levels to read appropriate books and to closely monitor reading practice using reliable and valid computer based quizzes. Prizes and Credits are awarded to students. Parents can monitor their son’s/daughter’s progress through Home-Connect. For more information please visit: www.renlearn.com
Lexia Quick Reading Test is a computerized diagnostic reading assessment program that quickly and effectively evaluates students’ decoding skills, their ability to use word attack strategies, and their automatically with sight words.
Lexia Strategies for Older Students
Reading skills are developed through activities practicing decoding, comprehension, and keyboard skills. Students control their own activities, but must show both competency and fluency in each skill before moving on. This can be accessed at home both computer based or Ipad/Iphone.
