‘Fame’ – the Musical
Despite being delayed by the snow the school’s 2010 production went ahead in January. The stage musical based on the 1980 musical film ‘Fame’ followed the story of the dramatic lives of Performing Arts students. Conceived and developed by David De Silva, book by Jose Fernandez, music by Steve Margoshes and lyrics by Jacques Levy.Head of Drama and Media, Steph Cook, who directed the production said: “‘Fame’ has been an excellent retrospective look at the 80’s. So everyone has retrieved their leg warmers and headbands from the depths of the wardrobe. The 140 strong cast and crew consists of students, ex-students, parents and staff (including retired staff member Glenys Watkins). As a teacher we can only dream to work with such dedicated students and staff but this year it has been made possible. ‘Fame’ has been a smash hit and I hope that these memories live forever!”
