Spring Term Music Lessons
Please may we remind parents that payment for Spring term music lessons are now due and are available on ParentPay.   Please note, it is imperative that students return the reply slips from the letters sent out to the main office to ensure their name is listed on the timetables.

If your son/daughter would like to start music lessons but has not received a letter or if you have any queries, please e-mail finance@hrs.education.

‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ Ticket Sales
HRS proudly presents ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’!  Staff and students alike have been working as hard as ever in preparation for our 12th whole school production. Tickets can be purchased in person outside the main hall every lunch time from 1.30-2pm.  Ticket prices are £7.50 for Adults and £6.00 for Concessions and the performances will be held from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th January 2017.

News from Art
Students in Years 7 to 11 entered art work for the International Postcard Show at the Surface Gallery in Nottingham.  58 entries were selected by the HRS art teachers and have been sent off to be exhibited in the show, which runs from 14th January to 11th February.  Emails have been sent home to parents/carers of students whose work was chosen for the show and a reduced school entry fee of £3 per submission is now required through ParentPay.  Well done to all students who were selected!

MFL Coursework
Year 11 Spanish class SP11C have begun their final writing coursework. This will be examined on Wednesday 18th January.  Please encourage your son/daughter to make the most of this final opportunity to get a good grade ‘in the bag’ before the final exams in May.

Maths Assessments this Half Term
Week commencing:

  • 9th January : Year 7 in class 1 hour exam and a mental assessment
  • 16th January: – Year 10 in class 3 – 90 minute assessments
  • 30th January: – Year 8 in class 1 hour exam and a mental assessment
  • 30th January: – Year 11 mock exam in Hall 3 – 90 minute assessments

Please can parents/carers help with equipment checks as many students do not appear to bring calculator/compass/protractor or in some cases a ruler to lessons or exams.

Year 10 Poetry Live! – Wednesday 8th February 2017 (Only 7 spaces left!)
The English Faculty has organised a visit to ‘Poetry Live!’ at the Cambridge Corn Exchange for Year 10 students.  Students will have the opportunity to hear poets from the GCSE Anthology perform their work, take part in discussions on the meanings in the texts and hear advice from an AQA Examiner.

There are only 7 spaces left on the trip and these will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, in order of payment on ParentPay.  The overall cost for this activity is £28.  This includes transport and the entrance fee.  Students will leave school by coach at 9am and will return to school at approximately 4pm.

Please ensure all school uniform and PE kits are labelled to help identify lost property.

If your child lost any PE kit last term please ask them to check with Student Reception as there are many items in Lost Property such as trainers, football boots, PE kits and swimwear.
