Year 7 & 8 Rugby Teams
The Year 8 rugby team competed in the North West Essex District rugby tournament earlier this week. The boys played incredibly well and won all of their matches throughout the tournament and came away as the District champions!
Tries on the night were scored by Luke Shriever, Luis Hogg and Alex Teather and there were several other fantastic performances including those from ‘Player of the Tournament’ Cameron Gibson and team captain Freddy Mansfield.
The Year 7 rugby team also played a fantastic performance winning all of their games up to the final but unfortunately lost at the end of the game when they fell victim to a break away try, awarding them the runner’s up title in the competition.
This was a great achievement for the Year 7 students, particularly as most of them have never played rugby before joining HRS. Notable performances came from Ewan Banks, Alfie Davies, Will Harrison and Charlie Simmons. Well done to both teams for such tremendous efforts!
Mr Craig Wilkins – BTEC Sports Co-ordinator
