Weekly News Bulletin: 16 March 2015

Roadworks
The road outside of school will continue to be closed overnight from Monday 9th to Monday 16th March while resurfacing takes place.  However, County Highways department has agreed for the closure to be postponed until 8.30pm on Thursday 12th March so that the Year 8 Options Evening can still go ahead.

Parents attending the Choreographic Competition on Monday 16th March please be aware that part of the road will still be closed so access to the school will be from the north; Highways have said that diversion signs will be put in place.
I apologise for any inconvenience.

Dedicated Child Protection E-mail Address
As part of our commitment to ensure all students at HRS have access to appropriate support if they feel at risk of harm for any reason, or are worried a friend may be at risk of harm, we have set up a dedicated e-mail address which automatically feeds to our Designated Child Protection staff Miss L Brammer and Mr S Emberton.

Some students like to make an initial discreet approach regarding concerns without a face to face meeting, particularly if they are concerned about a friend, and we hope this will ensure we do not miss any Safeguarding concerns that our students may encounter.

This e-mail address can also be used by parents should you have any Child Protection issues which you wish to raise with us.  Alleged bullying, friendship and other behavioural matters should continue to be directed to our Student Managers in the first instance, not to this e-mail address, which is dedicated to Child Protection issues where a child may be suffering or at risk of suffering “significant harm”.

The address is: worrybox@hrs.education and will also appear on the school website.

Child Sexual Exploitation
There are a number of challenges in keeping children safe at present and one of these is Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE).  This is a high-profile issue at present as can be seen from publication of the recent Serious Case Reviews from Rotherham and Oxford.

As we continue to educate students on this and a growing number of other Safeguarding issues they may face in their daily lives, we thought it would be useful to share with you, a website which contains some really useful information for parents on the subject of CSE and its various different models.  CSE is a real risk to all children of today.

www.paceuk.info

We strongly recommend that you look at this website and talk to your children about the issue of CSE so that the information they continue to be given in school is firmly embedded.  Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Mr S Emberton if you have any concerns.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
Once again we are collecting the Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers for our school.  The more vouchers we receive, the more equipment and experiences we will be able to get.  We would be very grateful if you could collect vouchers until 5th May 2015 at all Sainsbury’s stores, petrol stations and when ordering groceries online and ask your child to drop them off in the collection box in Student Reception.
Thank you for your support.
